IT Chapter 2 Was Unapologetically Gross and Emotional

Behold, Pennywise is back to Derry, Maine. I was scared shitless. Honestly, I felt genuinely scared thinking the cycle has started as if I was the one who's gonna fight Pennywise. I might actually die, but there's a 50-50 chance that I get extremely mad and just try to destroy him with an axe (which won't ever work).

Anyway, as everyone else has commented, IT Chapter 2 was undeniably LONG. There were a lot of plotlines they unravel throughout the film, maybe too much even. I heard that the original screen time was even longer. Thank God they cut it down. I understand the duty it had to serve the first movie its purpose, by adding a lot of backstory, what happened to the characters 27 years later. It is somehow justified. I somehow felt like Pennywise is angrier and hungrier this time around lol. Also, I felt like this sequel went all out with all the children killings it did. They did not even soften it down, no sugar coating, straight into Pennywise's tummy in just a bite. It was just more grotesque, uglier and just evil-er (if it is not a word, don't tell me). Guess, in Hollywood there are no rules on who we get to kill in movies or the extend of the killing method. But somebody gotta keep the clown fed right. So, okay. I get it.

Even though the plots were long, it was great to explore the world of Derry and characters. Although, in my opinion the plots that focused on the characters were made for audiences that didn't watch the first film. However, it included the characters struggle which is to me, a rich storytelling. Script wise, it was brilliant. The best thing about the script is that the characters stayed true to their portrayals from their younger counterparts. The script focused a lot on the character's backstory struggles, I have never read the book but I hope it did justice to Stephen King's fans.

Because to me, the reason why IT was such a huge success is because it was never like any other horror films. It wasn't a common storyline that started the haunting because, of demon that resides in an old abandoned building, or possession. Some of the horror films are plainly about them being scared if an entity that doesn't hurt you physically or mentally. But Pennywise, man... He just came to hurt you, eat you, and he plays with your fears, your emotions. He haunts like a pro or in a other word, an out of the world level of a bully.

An unofficial edit but you get what I mean

Props to the casting director cause, DAMN THAT PERSON NAILED IT. Every adult characters suit the original portrayal of the characters. They don't just look identical but they brought the characters alive. Love the cast so much! I mean, what do we expect from an outstanding line of actors. James McAvoy (not being biased but he is my favourite actor of ALL time) KILLED IT! He just slayed the character Bill Denbrough. The timid yet brave character shines, Bill has always been the brave one to take the fall. He is always my favourite character because the irony of him having speech impediment because it doesn't reflect his bravery at all. I love the story arc for Bev as well, knowing how her life turned out in the future, how she's still struggling to get out of the same cycle she was in. Jessica Chastain is PERFECT for bev. Also, Bill Hader, THAT MAN DESERVES ALL THE 21 EMMY NOMINATION HE GOT. He made Richie perfect. He was just so good in bringing the character after Finn did a fantastic job playing that character.

Seeing every characters gathering in one part of the film, felt as if it was my own school reunion, I AM GLAD to see the Losers get together again. It was just a powerful, emotional scene. This franchise has only been going on for a few years but the impact, the connection it has made with its audience is amazing. I felt that.

Overall, I find the ending a bit meme worthy. Can't wait to have that last scene be turned into a meme really. Anyway, aside from that, I love it. Gosh, finally we get to see that demonic piece of shit die. I mean, ABOUT DAMN TIME pennywise. We here for a good time, not a long time. I don't know why you're spending so much time on Earth. The ending was beautifully justified. It was more emotional than I thought it would be.
