Reserve Your Time Off Social Media

I have always been a user of social media. Even during the Friendster days. Yes, I was there when Friendster was still a thing. Then we shift to MySpace and everyone had a big move to Facebook somewhere in 2009. I went to Twitter for spazzing purposes.
Now, you see back then Twitter was a place of isolation. Very few people were there tweeting about the dumbest thing you could possibly think of. No one was out there tweeting about socially right things all the time. People were literally tweeting about their lunch
"Hey, just had lunch. I had fish and chips. *insert twitpic link*"
"Omg, I am on the bus for the first time in my life"
It was really simple. Nowadays, twitter (other social media sites included) has become a debating ground. Don't get me wrong, debating and discussions are a really healthy thing to do.
But I do have some questions.
How many debates can one really handle daily or weekly. How much tolerance does one have in arguments. Sometimes, you wake up each day and all you want to do is just enjoy your day. Enjoy the weather, the scenery. The beauty God has created, admiring it. General talks about people in your life. Their updates, their favourite food.
Heck, sometimes you just want to wake up and talk about birds and weather.
However, we are accustomed to have our phones in our hands. So everyday, we wake up to a whole new argument. Today it's about politics, tomorrow it's about relationships and the next debate is about a celebrity's decision to dehijab which in my opinion by the way, is none of your god damn business. We proudly say 'I'm not a busy body.' but with the rise of social media as a compulsory need for us to be a part of the community, we all are. And that's sickening and tiring.
So one day, you'll wake up feeling tired. Tired of all these new information you just couldn't get your brain to digest them. You're tired of these problems that are not even yours but you care so much about it because in social media, everyone's opinions matter. If it's an unpopular opinion, you get branded with any kind of labels the netizens can think of.
"Just because it doesn't happen to you doesn't mean it doesn't happen to someone else."
Yes, you're right. It does happen. These problems exists.
But they're not my problem and if I am not in a place that could change it, I might as well focus on the real problems I have in my life. Real life problems.
You should too.
Social media is fun. The discussions are fun. However, you have to keep in mind, you mustn't let it consume you or your energy. When it does, it would affect your mental health, your thoughts and going on about your life.
Because at the end of the day, at least for me, I just want to wake up to a good weather, maybe good morning texts from my family, texts from my friends telling about things they encountered on their way to the office. A good breakfast, work and by sunset, you just want to be home, comfortable and relax.
The problems that exists online, sometimes have no effect on you. Unless you let it.
So, take your time off social media. Take your time off of taking in too many information you don't necessarily need. Make life matter for the people that matters to you. Surround yourself with their company. Enjoy life a little bit. It'd be relaxing.
